The many different laws of Computing

March 14, 2023 @ 18:00 - 20:00

The various and wonderful laws of computing
*Cough* *cough*, this is not a talk about digital jurisprudence, rather it is a detailed set of seminal observations on the various trends we have experienced in the last 60 years of computing. Of course the most famous one of them all is the classic Moore’s Law, while not an actual law, has had an astounding effect on all of mankind since the invention of the microprocessor.
In this 90-minute talk I will point out the different advances in computing, be it networking, storage, connectivity, semiconductors, processing power, energy trends, etc. I will then proceed to list the eponnymous persons associated with each specific law, realtionship or trend and what implications they have for us all. The alternative title for this talk was the "computing rules of thumb".
