Software-in-the-Loop (SIL) Testing

April 26, 2023 @ 16:00 - 17:15

Software-in-the-loop (SIL) is a method of testing and validating code in a simulation environment in order to quickly and cost-effectively catch bugs and improve the quality of the code. Typically, SIL testing is conducted in the early stages of the (https://www.aptiv.com/en/insights/article/what-the-next-phase-of-automotive-software-development-looks-like), while the more complex, costlier (https://www.aptiv.com/en/insights/article/what-is-hardware-in-the-loop-testing) testing is done in later stages.
SIL is particularly important in the automotive industry as OEMs move toward building (https://www.aptiv.com/en/insights/article/what-is-a-software-defined-vehicle) that enable features and functions primarily through software.
