Widespread adoption of Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning (AI/ML) technologies in day-to-day
applications call for revision of existing and/or development of new software engineering processes and
methods. The engineering lifecycle of AI/ML-based software systems differ from traditional software
systems. In this talk, we will see the broad set of challenges posed by data-driven methods for
development, deployment, and evolution of complex software systems as opposed to traditional rule-
based methods. The talk will also cover specific challenges in adoption of ML technologies in safety-
critical systems.
