MIPSE seminar – “A Cocktail of Active Ingredients – Benefits and Challenges for Plasma Medicine”

January 26, 2022 @ 15:30 - 16:30

The first MIPSE seminar for the Winter 2022 semester will be presented by Prof. Katharina Stapelmann of North Carolina State University on Wednesday, January 26. The seminar, titled “A Cocktail of Active Ingredients – Benefits and Challenges for Plasma Medicine”, will start at 3:30 pm in room EECS 1003. In her talk, Prof. Stapelmann will provide an overview of the emerging field of plasma medicine – the use of atmospheric pressure plasmas for treating wounds, cancer and stimulating immunogenic responses. The field is based on the plasma producing RONS (reactive oxygen and nitrogen species) similar to those that cells naturally use to regulate their own processes.

The seminar will be conducted in person and simulcast via Zoom. Login instructions are posted on the MIPSE website: https://mipse.umich.edu/seminars_2122.php.
