Handling Research Paper Reviews Effectively

Virtual: https://events.vtools.ieee.org/m/412816

Research paper writing is an important part of conveying the results of one’s own research to the technical community and getting the paper accepted in reputed journals is a difficult task. It is both an art and science. The most important part of the review process is to answer properly the reviewer’s questions in the first review as most of the papers generally get into a major revision process. Based on the speaker’s experience in both academia and R&D over 50 years, the speaker will present important ways of handling and writing replies to the reviewer’s comments properly in a step by step approach. The lecture will be highly interactive, and the participants are expected to share their experiences in writing replies to the reviewers and become enlightened of the right ways of handling the reviewer’s comments. [] Speaker(s): N Sundararajan, Agenda: 08:05 AM - Technical Talk/Presentation/Interactive 09:00 AM - End Technical Talk/Presentation, continue with Q & A 09:15 PM - Wrap Up /* ALL TIMES ARE USA EST/EDT * Virtual: https://events.vtools.ieee.org/m/412816

Why are Semiconductor Packaging & Heterogeneous Integration taking Center Stage for continuing Moore’s Law?

Virtual: https://events.vtools.ieee.org/m/413848

Abstract:Heterogeneous Integration (HI) provides the opportunity for dense connectivity between smaller dies from advanced technology nodes to improve yield, provides for connectivity between optimized legacy technology nodes to reduce time to market, and enables the connectivity of dissimilar dies on a single platform to enhance functionality. Though fueled by semiconductor packaging, HI represents higher levels of integration than what the semiconductor industry is used to and has done in the past. This is paramount to continuing Moore’s law and making More than Moore possible. As expected, this approach will pose many challenges but lots of opportunities as HI takes center stage. This presentation will cover the current state of the art, emerging applications, challenges that need to be addressed, and solutions being pursued.Speaker(s): Prof. Madhavan Swaminathan, Virtual: https://events.vtools.ieee.org/m/413848

Documentary Night: Charles Proteus Steinmetz:

Virtual: https://events.vtools.ieee.org/m/384550

Recently in 2021, 2022 & 2023, as part of an innovative and fresh approach, i.e. a non-traditional meeting event: we presented video documentaries. This was very warmly received. So we decided to continue the good work. We proudly present, in partnership with the IEEE Foundation: "Divine Discontent: The Life of Charles Proteus Steinmetz" Summary: This documentary/movie will look at the life and contributions of one of the most celebrated Engineers and inventors, Charles Proteus Steinmetz. Dr. Steinmetz was a legendary figure in his time inside and outside of GE. He was a Chief Consulting Engineer, a Professor at Union College, a Community Activist, and a family man. We will relive his path from a small town in Prussia to New York and his great accomplishments in Science, Engineering, Education, and contributions to Society. Running time is approximately 55 minutes. This documentary is brought to you by the IEEE Foundation who partially funded this. The trailer can be viewed at: https://vimeo.com/57064748 AFTER the movie - we can have a brief discussion session. NOTE: You must supply your own soda pop and popcorn! :-) Trivia may also follow, so bring your Jeopardy hats too We are celebrating this on the occasion of Steinmetz's birthday (April 9th, 1865). Speaker(s): Sharan Kalwani, Agenda: 4:00 PM - Welcome and Introductions, Chapter business update; (on your own) Pizza, Popcorn and Soda Pop 4:05 PM - Documentary 5:15 PM - End of Documentary; Start of Q & A; Group Discussion 5:30 PM - Wrap Up Virtual: https://events.vtools.ieee.org/m/384550

Severe Weather Spotter Training

Southbridge Community Church, 15500 73rd Ave, Orland Park, Illinois, United States, Virtual: https://events.vtools.ieee.org/m/413624

Spring traditionally brings the possibility of violent weather through much of our area. National Weather Service Instructors will provide information on how to recognize approaching severe weather, what to do when it arrives, and how to notify authorities of impending severe weather so that alarms can be sent out. This training will be done in person at the Hamfesters meeting location in Orland Park and online via zoom. Co-sponsored by: hamfesters Radio Club Southbridge Community Church, 15500 73rd Ave, Orland Park, Illinois, United States, Virtual: https://events.vtools.ieee.org/m/413624
