Central States VHF Society Conference

Radisson Hotel Cedar Rapids, 1200 Collins Rd NE, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, United States, 524042

The Central States VHF Society, Inc. (CSVHFS) began in the mid-1960s to foster amateur radio operation on the bands above 50 MHz. Membership currently numbers about 300, principally in the Midwest states. However, members reside in states from the Atlantic Coast to the West Coast as well as Canada and several foreign countries. The CSVHFS holds a Technical Conference once a year. The conference raises the technical knowledge of amateurs by providing: - A forum for presenting technical papers relating to VHF, UHF, and Microwave - A focal point for the discussion of operating practices and procedures - The exploration of modes such as Earth-Moon-Earth, Meteor Scatter, Field Aligned Irregularities, and E-skip - A discussion of other topics that promote operation on Amateur bands above 50 MHz The Technical Conference includes: - An Antenna Range - Noise Figure Measurement - Rover Row - Dish Bowl - Flea Market - Vendor Room The conference also provides a family program for spouses and children. Hotel Room Block: Central States VHF Society 2024 Conference \n Agenda: States Above 50 MHz The States Above 50 MHz program encourages members to work as many states as possible on the bands 50 MHz and above. Only members receive awards based on the number of band states worked. Reverse VUCC The Reverse VUCC program recognizes the contribution of rovers to the world of grid hunting. Rovers operate while in motion or temporarily parked to give new grids to fixed stations. The program rewards contacts made FROM a set number of grids per band. Spring Sprints The Spring Sprints encourage amateurs to have fun operating 50 MHz, 144 MHz, 222 MHz, and 432 MHz one band at a time for four hours on four weekends. A score can also be submitted for the May Microwave Activity Day. Family Program The Family Program provides educational and social opportunities for non-technical family members. Family members will visit our Czech and Slovak Museum, the Brucemore Mansion, and the Amana Colonies. We want more children to attend. Please reach out to us if you have concerns about programming.
