Officer Training 2026 (part 1 of 5)

Virtual: https://events.vtools.ieee.org/m/530206

In 2026 we will offer ‘Officer Training’ to our ‘newly’ elected AND veteran officers and volunteers; as well as any IEEE member, at any grade level or position. Our wish is to help all gain a fuller awareness of the communication and management skills used within the IEEE, how they function and how to employ them both as IEEE officers, and in your everyday work and life. Classes: As an introduction to these skills, we will offer a sequence set of VIRTUAL classes supported by study materials available through the (https://r4.ieee.org/sem/) and the (https://ieee.learningpool.com/) The virtual classes will begin in the 2nd week of JANUARY 2026 and conclude end of FEBRUARY. Each class will be conducted as an overview of the topic ‘de jour’ and a discussion or Q&A session to answer questions and clarify issues. (See the agenda below:) Note: Space for these classes is not like outer space, it is limited, so you must register to receive the necessary codes and passwords to attend. NO REFUNDS for the $10 Workshop Lunch Sponsor: Teledyne LeCroy Lab Sponsor: Teledyne LeCroy Did you ever wonder why a chattering relay can disrupt so many signals? Did you ever wonder about the consequences of a change in bandwidth? What is the difference between narrowband and broadband? Why does a twisted pair provide magnetic shielding? Does the shape of a choke have an effect? Is a resistor ever an inductor or capacitor? Is an inductor a capacitor? How can you find out? Can a trace that is not smooth change the inductance or capacitance of the trace? How does a scope work? How can you increase the resolution of the scope? If you have considered these conundrums – please come and join us at the EMC Basics + Workshop January 10th, 2026 at the Teledyne Applications Test Center 27300 Haggerty Road Farmington Hills, MI. IEEE Volunteer Basics Training – Session 2

Virtual: https://events.vtools.ieee.org/m/510134

Are you new to volunteering with IEEE or in an unfamiliar position? This training session will introduce you to the organization, region leadership (we're here to help!), share important dates and activities, and share what the Region 4/6 Joint Operating Committee Meeting (Opcom) will be like. This is for section, chapter, and affinity group volunteers. If this time does not work for you, there is another session on January 9th. Additional sessions cover events and organization vitality (strong volunteers and serving your membership).
