In-person Event: Room 218, New Brighton Community Center, 6:00 – 8pm AI & Emerging Trends Topic: Cognitive RF Systems: Real-time Learning in Dynamic RF Environments Registration is requested to help in ordering sufficient pizza/beverages 6:05 Registration, Pizza Served (TC Officers) 6:25 Welcome and Updates (John Berkner) 6:30 Guest Speaker: Cognitive RF Systems: Real-time Learning in Dynamic RF Environments (Dr. Karen Haigh) Radio frequency (RF) environments are growing more congested, contested, and complex, impacting everything from national defense to medical devices. This presentation explores how artificial intelligence (AI) is transforming RF systems to adapt in real time to dynamic conditions, novel emitters, and unpredictable interference. By embedding techniques like situation assessment, decision-making, and machine learning directly into RF workflows, we create smarter, faster, and more resilient systems. In this talk, I will describe how Cognitive Radio, Cognitive Radar, and Cognitive Electronic Warfare share a common AI foundation, and why this matters across domains. From tactical missions to civilian infrastructure, including RF interference in critical medical systems, the stakes are high and the need for intelligent adaptation is urgent. The talk will highlight: - - Where and how AI functions within RF systems - Strategies for real-time, in-mission learning and adaptation - Evaluation methods for systems that learn on the fly - Cross-sector relevance, from military systems to civilian settings This presentation draws from the book Cognitive Electronic Warfare: An Artificial Intelligence Approach and aims to inspire engineers, researchers, and decision-makers across defense, healthcare, and communications to rethink what’s possible when RF meets AI. 7:30 Networking (Members, Guests) 7:50 Adjourn Speaker(s): Karen Haigh Agenda: 6:05 Registration, Pizza Served (TC Officers) 6:25 Welcome and Updates (John Berkner) 6:30 Guest Speaker: Cognitive RF Systems: Real-time Learning in Dynamic RF Environments (Dr. Karen Haigh) 7:30 Networking (Members, Guests) 7:50 Adjourn Room: 218, Bldg: New Brighton Community Center, 803 Old Highway 8 NW , New Brighton, Minnesota, United States, 55112
