There is an increase of interest in designing and development of chip manufacturing in the entire world. In this talk, we present some steps of designing basic digital chips from Verilog. We consider elementary Boolean gates and circuits and give the design steps so that the chips can be made using the open-source Tiny Tapeout procedure. All the steps will be discussed so that beginners can easily copy-paste the steps and code and verify the procedure. The talk will also be useful for professionals in this area. The Southeast Michigan Young Professionals Affinity Group is starting a new member speaker series meant to highlight the projects, research, or interests of our members! Our first session will be presented by member Harshal Shah in July on the topic of Voice Technologies and AI: A Bridge Between Humans and Machines. Voice technologies are evolving from simple command interfaces into sophisticated, AI-powered tools that enable deeper interaction between humans and machines. This talk explores the journey of voice processing, from traditional systems to modern AI-enhanced applications that understand emotion, accents, and intent. The speaker will highlight real-world use cases in accessibility, healthcare, and embedded devices while also discussing challenges such as privacy, dataset bias, and inclusive design. The session aims to provide young professionals with insights into the current landscape and future direction of voice technologies and their intersection with artificial intelligence. Whether you're an engineer, researcher, or product thinker, this session will offer practical takeaways and forward-looking perspectives on building more human-centric voice solutions. We hope you can join us! If you are interested in presenting to the SEM YP audience as well, be sure to submit a proposal (https://enotice.mmsend.com/link.cfm?r=eneCaabbihUmOAEBlfCMSA~~&pe=JUC_xjvopINsCD55LxK-1aNZPOXQyT20CqN6ZJjKY1t1E72PruA9IL3DF6FXya2Qcd3Drx-UJgcmQkrTqz-hXg~~&t=zp0mqccg2w1gt7ynGowPOA~~). Dan Reilly will be our speaker and touch on the science of hurricanes. He will discuss the various hurricane-related hazards including damaging winds, storm surge flooding, tornadoes flooding rains and high surf. He will present the 2025 Atlantic Hurricane Seasonal forecasts and describe the factors that go into those projections. The presentation will be followed by a Q&A on all things hurricane and weather related. Co-sponsored by: IEEE-USA MOVE Program Speaker(s): Dan Reilly Virtual: https://events.vtools.ieee.org/m/463715
