This interactive virtual session will delve into the mathematical and algorithmic foundations that govern robotic motion and response, with particular focus on forward and inverse kinematics, as well as key control algorithms such as PID and adaptive control. The session will be conducted by Dr. Jonathan Eden, Lecturer in Robotics and Mechatronics at the University of Melbourne and head of the Human Robotics Laboratory. Dr. Eden’s research lies at the forefront of human-robot interaction, combining dynamics analysis, control theory, haptics, and aspects of neuroscience to design systems that extend human capability through intelligent robotic assistance.Through this session, Dr. Eden will explore how control systems interact with the kinematic structure of robots to produce precise, stable, and responsive motion—especially in dynamic or uncertain environments.
