Science Kits for Public Libraries (SKPL), How IEEE Life Members Can Make a Difference

October 30 @ 4:00 pm - 5:15 pm EDT

With all the budget cuts in our education system, a lot of “extras” have been taken out of our schools. The SKPL program puts those premium learning experiences back into the communities, making them free and accessible to the public.
IEEE- Region 4 believes all children – regardless of race, gender, financial condition, or home environment – should have access to high-quality, hands-on STEM learning experiences. By making catalyst grants available to public libraries, they are empowered to start their own science kit collections that are free and accessible to the public.
As a volunteer-based organization, IEEE- Region 4 is looking for people that are passionate about STEM education and are interested in helping to bring SKPL to children in their communities.
This presentation will include the SKPL mission, purpose and process as well as the history of SKPL. Why SKPL is important and how Life Members can make a difference will be discussed.
