AN OVERVIEW OF THE MICHIGAN 2023 ENERGY LEGISLATION: A MPSC STAFF PRESENTATION

The West Michigan Section of the IEEE is honored to host an overview of the 2023 Energy Legislation presented by MPSC staff members Jill Rusnak and Reka Holley Voelker. Some of the technical work the Commission is undertaking will also be shared.
Jill Rusnak is the manager of the advising team to the Commissioners at the Michigan Public Service Commission and the lead advisor to MPSC Chair Dan Scripps. In 2019 she was recognized as one of Public Utilities Fortnightly under 40 young and rising stars in the industry. Prior to her employment at the MPSC she served as a chemist at an environmental laboratory. Mrs. Rusnak is a graduate of Michigan State University’s College of Engineering, with a discipline in Materials Science and Engineering.
Reka Holley Voelker is the Manager of the Communications Section at the Michigan Public Service Commission where she also serves as the Commission’s Liaison to the Legislature and Michigan’s 12 Federally Recognized Tribes. In her role, she oversees the Commission’s external communications, outreach and customer engagement efforts, advises on numerous policy issues, and serves as the main point of contact for members of the Legislature and the Tribes. Prior to officially joining the Commission in 2019, Reka worked with the Commission in her role as the Energy Ombudsman at the Michigan Agency for Energy (MAE). In her free time, Reka enjoys baking and has been known to regularly bring treats into the office. Reka lives with her husband Andy, stepson Garrett, their 2 cats, and 2 overly energetic dogs in Jackson, MI.
