We believe this will result in a smoother transition for the new officer when they take over the position and better long range continuity of programs.<\/p>\n<p><strong>All Geo-units (Affinity Groups and Technical Chapters) officers remain as single year terms as shown below.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Affinity Groups (all 4) and Chapters (all 18) <br \/>Chair &#8211; assume office on January 1 for a one year term. <br \/>Vice-Chair &#8211; assume office on January 1 for a one year term. <br \/>Secretary \u2013 assume office on January 1 for a one year term. <br \/>Treasurer \u2013 assume office on January 1 for a one year term.<\/p>\n<p>Note: If any elected officer is not replaced by election or appointment, they retain the office along with all of its responsibilities.<\/p>\n<p>Please Note: Standing Committee officers are appointed by the Section Executive and are not elected to their posts.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Descriptions:<\/strong> <br \/>Job Descriptions along with \u2018Quick Start Guides\u2019 for each position may be found in the <br \/>IEEE Center for Leadership Excellence located at: <a href=\"https:\/\/ieee-elearning.org\/CLE\/\">https:\/\/ieee-elearning.org\/CLE\/<\/a> <br \/>Look in the \u201cVolunteer Position Training\u201d section for each office description.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Nominations:<\/strong> <br \/>The nomination process begins with the collection of ballot candidate nominations for each office. <br \/>To collect ballot nominations we use a vTools Survey form. The form is located at: TBD<\/p>\n<p><strong>Requirements:<\/strong> <br \/>The IEEE MGA requires that elected Section and Geo-unit officers meet the following criteria:<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Active member status (i.e. dues paid),<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Member Grade above Student, i.e.: Graduate Student, Member, Senior Member, Life Member or, Fellow, <br \/>(Note: Student Members may hold offices within their individual Student Branches or HKN Chapters. <br \/>Student Branches and HKN Chapters hold their own elections at times selected by each.)<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Membership in the \u2018Geo-unit\u2019 (Chapter or Affinity Group) selected,<\/p>\n<p>(Note: All members residing in Southeastern Michigan are by default members of the \u2018Section\u2019 and therefore may run for any Section Executive Committee office but, you must be a \u2018member\u2019 of the associated Society to run for office in an Affinity Group or Technical Chapter.)<\/p>\n<p>Candidates, for Affinity Groups or Chapters must be members of that particular \u2018Geo-unit\u2019. <br \/>If you are unsure of your particular Affinity Group or Chapter affiliation, use the IEEE.ORG main website: https:\/\/www.ieee.org\/<\/p>\n<p>Sign into the site (upper right at top of page) and then click on you name to enter your Personal Profile page. Your current IEEE affiliations are listed under \u201cMembership and Subscription History\u201d. Compare these with the supporting Societies or Affinity Group sponsors to determine the offices in the Chapter or Affinity Group you may \u2018run\u2019 for using the candidate nomination process.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Self Nomination:<\/strong> <br \/>When you begin the nomination process, please have the following information on hand to successfully complete the online nomination form (TBD) includes:<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Name as listed with the IEEE, <br \/>\u2022 IEEE member number, <br \/>\u2022 e-mail address, <br \/>\u2022 Phone number, <br \/>\u2022 Member grade, <br \/>\u2022 Geo-unit of your choice, <br \/>\u2022 Position for nomination,<\/p>\n<p><strong>Optional items:<\/strong> <br \/>You may also prepare the following optional items as part of the candidate package: <br \/>\u2022 Biography or position statement (100 words or less) and <br \/>\u2022 Photo (jpg 50kbytes or less \u2013 This must be stored in a separate file with a separate link).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Nominating someone else:<\/strong> <br \/>You may nominate another person on their behalf. However, you will need their IEEE Member number and all the other relevant information required of any candidate.
