Securing your computer & yourself

Following up a positive response to the 2017 edition of the same workshop, we are holding this event again this year – 2019 – with updates and additions of the latest computer based internet threats.

Despite the advances in computing technology, the average person, remains vulnerable to all sorts of  computer/network-based security threats.

In this wide ranging and comprehensive seminar, material is presented that will give you a number of steps you can do to improve the security of your computer {that includes PC, tablet, phone, etc.}, at the same time also boost your privacy, so that the Internet is a little bit less of the “Wild West” experience. Some of the topics that will presented are:

•        Ransomware
•        Viruses
•        Phishing Scams
•        Privacy settings on web sites and social media forums (such as Linkedin.com)
•        Identity Theft and
•        Other types of malware
•        General tools (and reliable resources) one can use to assist you
