Utility Scale Solar and BESS

Utility scale solar facilities and BESS are often referred to as complimentary technologies. WEC Energy Group is currently in the midst of reshaping its electric generation fleet and is building several installations that employ standalone solar or solar and BESS in concert. In this presentation, a representative from WEC Energy Group will discuss the physical, energy, and capacity market dynamics that determine how sizing and location of these generation assets is determined.

Russell Laursen, WEC Energy Group

Russell Laursen is a Market Strategist for WEC Energy Group. He has responsible for engagement and
vetting of renewable generation projects developed by partners of WEC. Russell has experience in
natural gas commodity and pipeline supply, electric supply, and natural gas asset planning. He hold a BS
in Mechanical Engineering from the Milwaukee School of Engineering and an MBA from the University
of Wisconsin – La Crosse.
