Distributed AI for Grid Optimization – DER Connect and Manage

Utilidata’s distributed AI platform, Karman, is transforming the way utilities manage and optimize the electric grid by providing real-time visibility, predictive analytics, and real-time optimization. Built on a custom NVIDIA module, Karman leverages AI to model and anticipate grid conditions, enhancing reliability and enabling better management of distributed energy resources (DERs) such as solar power and electric vehicles (EVs).

This presentation will highlight findings from a recent study conducted by the University of Michigan Transportation Research Institute (UMTRI) in collaboration with Utilidata. The study examined EV driving and charging behaviors to understand their impact on the grid. Additionally, this presentation will showcase the ongoing collaboration between Utilidata and EPRI, aimed at integrating DERs into the grid and improving utilities’ ability to monitor and communicate with these resources. As DER penetration and the grid’s complexity rapidly increase, Utilidata’s platform offers utilities the necessary visibility and control to manage these resources effectively and support customer needs.
