Cable Rejuvenation 101 & Extended Case Study

This presentation will describe the benefits of cable rejuvenation. There is limited supply of new cable and this new cable should be used for new construction and cable rejuvenation can be used to extend the life of existing cables in the ground. A case study will be highlighted showing the great savings a utility experienced when rejuvenating cables and the number of unplanned outages were greatly reduced.

Wayne Chatterton, Southwire services

Dr. Chatterton has a PhD in organic Chemistry from the University of Toronto (1990). He has spent is entire career in the electrical industry. He has worked for Dow Chemical in the development of cable rejuvenation fluids. He has worked for UtilX/Novinium since 2006 when he left Dow. He is a Senior member of the IEEE and a member of ASTM committees D9 and D27. He has worked on transformer fluids, circuit breaker lubricants, insulative rubbers, diffusion pump fluids and has numerous patents on cable rejuvenation fluids and processes. In 2022, Southwire acquired Novinium, Wayne is now the Director of Strategy for Southwire services.
