Sulfur Hexafluoride, problems related and possible current solutions

Because of climate change, which is becoming increasingly apparent, interest in greenhouse gases is increasing. It is crucial to treat sulfur hexafluoride, which is present in the world of high voltage in significant quantities, in the most sustainable way possible. Our presentation will focus on this matter: We’ll start with an introduction on SF6 characteristics, then we’ll explore how it can impact on the environment: As SF6 is the most impactful greenhouse gas (GHD) an explanation of the phenomenon will follow with reference to: Kyoto’s protocol, global warming and GWP. To contextualize this topic, we’ll continue with a study on the impact of SF6 on the atmosphere due to direct and indirect emissions in the field of high voltage. Of fundamental importance is to understand how to manage the SF6 issue: that’s why we’ll explore methods to reduce SF6 emissions, transition to alternative gases (not yet practicable) and SF6 gas regeneration. SF6 regeneration is the only sustainable solution for today in an economic, environmental and social way, our intervention will explain how. Finally we’ll introduce the concept of “recycling” practicable through a portable machine by licensed technicians directly on site, highlight the differences with regeneration process and then we’ll move onto conclusions.
