Accelerate Your Career with Professional Engineering License

Learn the benefits of becoming a Professional Engineer and the role the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES) plays in the process towards licensure. Also learn about the paths to licensure and specific requirements by state, the National Records Keeping Program and the process of renewing your license. Kathryn A. Gray, P.E., Fellow NSPE

Mrs. Gray is president and CEO of GrayTech Software, Inc. in Wheaton, IL, which she founded in 1983 to provide low cost CAD software. She has grown the company to include custom programming services, engineering software applications, and provide software consulting services, as well as CAD software development for clients in the states and abroad. Kathryn became involved in volunteer leadership in1993 when approached to serve on the Board of Directors of the Illinois Society of Professional Engineers, and in 1995 was elected the first female as President of ISPE in its 112 year history. She then served as Regional Director, then Vice President, which led to president of the National Society of Professional Engineers where she served in 2005 to 2006. Kathryn was Chair of National Engineers Week (DiscoverE) Coalition for 2009-2010. She served on the DiscoverE Board of Directors from 2008 through 2016 and as Board President in 2015-2016. She is a founding member of the national Software Engineering Licensure Consortium for NCEES. Mrs. Gray also served 5 years on the American Association of Engineering Societies and was Chair of the Association and the Executive Committee in 2013. While busy running GrayTech Software and serving at the state and national levels of various engineering organizations, Kathryn still is very active locally organizing engineering outreach efforts for young students in the metropolitan Chicago area. She also speaks at universities, corporations and professional Development Conferences on topics of Diversity and Inclusion, Engineering, Professional Licensure, Entrepreneurship, and more, and has received multiple awards for her service.
