MV Cable Design & Stress Control

Medium voltage cable is playing an ever increasing role in commercial and renewables projects. This necessitates a basic understanding on how the properties of medium voltage cable are vastly different compared to lower voltage cable.  This session will teach you basic properties of medium voltage cable design and their interactivity with cable accessories.   You will also learn how manufacturers use testing to validate performance and integrity of the relationship between cable and accessories along with how this data is used to constantly improve the design, installation simplicity and functionality of these accessories.

Brian Ayres, TE Connectivity

Brian Ayres is the Manager of Research and Product Development of Cable Accessories for the Americas at TE Connectivity / Raychem. He has been with TE Connectivity for 11 years and has held many roles. He has developed a number of cable accessories and holds a number of patents.  He sits on a number of IEEE standards committees including IEEE-48, IEEE-404, IEEE-386 and many others.  He is also the Vice-Chair of IEEE 1511.2  and sits on the management board of the National Electric Energy Testing, Research & Applications Center (NEETRAC).  He has a Bachelor’s Degree from Clarkson University and has previously worked at Hipotronics and the New York Independent System Operator.
