Eastern Iowa IEEE Consultants Network Report Vision Synopsis

4-21-2013 by Dan Roesler

Eastern Iowa contains many individuals with professional skills across a variety of engineering disciplines.  The IEEE covers many different societies of advancing engineering development as seen in the multitude of magazines and society publications.

For IEEE members the IEEE USA has established and encouraged IEEE Consultant Networks.  Gary Blank (Vice IEEE USA Chair) has provided many seminars on this topic, in particular two webinars, Consultants Network 101 and Setting Up Your Consultants Database Profile.

The primary objective for this affinity group within the Cedar Rapids Section is to facilitate other interested IEEE members (and those that want to become members) to get established and in particular to create their Consultant’s profile and enter it into the IEEE USA Consultant’s database profile.

A second, no less important objective will be to establish a working local IEEE Consultant’s network.  Each consultant will have a particular strength in their expertise to offer.  Many jobs will require a multitude of experts.  The more familiar this group is with each other, the more we can offer to potential customers each other’s services.

A presentation was made to the IEEE CR Section at the Metro Buffet on March 21, 2013 entitled ‘Consulting Startup Basics, The Business Considerations’, by Dan Roesler, Applied Research Consulting Inc.  This presentation describes many of the business considerations that are involved.  See attached.

We will eventually attempt to list our members and their profiles on this web site.
